Kyle and Buda are suburban communities located just south of Austin. Residents enjoy a lower cost of living and relaxed atmosphere of a suburb while being close to the lively city of Austin.
If you're considering moving to Kyle or Buda, you're not alone - Kyle's population has exploded from 28,000 people in 2010 to almost 47,000 in 2020, and Buda has more than doubled from 7,000 in 2010 to 15,000 in 2020. Prospective homebuyers will have their pick of new homes and apartment complexes. Much of the real estate in Kyle is new construction to accommodate the boom in population.

Local Lifestyle
Kyle and Buda are less crowded than the city and have a historical vibe. Buda is known as the "outdoor capital" of the region, with more parkland per capita than anywhere else in the state.
Most people here own their homes, and most of the houses here were constructed after the year 2000. Many of the homes in Buda have more land than other Austin neighborhoods and suburbs, so it's perfect for those who enjoy a little more space and privacy. However, there are a handful of modern luxury apartment buildings for those who prefer the convenience of apartment living. It is a popular area among young professionals and families. While many homes are new, the downtown area maintains a historic vibe with restored and revitalized 19th-century buildings and storefronts.
Dining, Shopping, and Entertainment
A short drive from Kyle in Driftwood, TX is Salt Lick BBQ, a classic, rustic barbeque spot with an outdoor space for live music.
For a taste of Buda’s historical and nostalgic vibe, visit the 1940s-themed soda shop, Buda Drug Store and Soda Fountain. This operational pharmacy also sells delicious ice cream, milkshakes, and candy.
Kyle is home to the famous Texas Pie Company, which has been featured on NPR, Southern Living magazine, and more. Chef Julie Albertson makes delicious homemade pies from family recipes, as well as a full menu of casseroles, lunch specials, and baked treats.
Other popular neighborhood events include the Buda Lions Country Fair & Wiener Dog Races, which takes place on the last weekend of April, and Arts in the Park, which takes place Fridays in June and July.
Things to do in Kyle / Buda
If you envision spending your days getting your produce, eggs, and fresh-cut flowers from a farmer's market, shopping at boutiques, and having a bite at a local cafe or bakery, Buda might be the spot for you. The downtown farmer’s market is open every Sunday, and the Buda Downtown Merchants Group celebrates every first Saturday of the month with live music, food and drinks.
Kyle also has its Market Days that take place the second Saturday of each month from April through October, and feature a variety of local goods and live music. produce, flowers, honey, bread, pastries, handmade soaps, and more. Additionally, one of Kyle’s best-known attractions is the Railroad Depot and Heritage Center, a 1917 railroad depot turned museum popular with families and history buffs alike.
